Günter May, geb. 1953 in Schüller/Eifel
1970 bis 1974 Ausbildung als Schriftsetzer
1974 bis 1976 Fachoberschule für Gestaltung in Köln
1976 bis 1981 Fachhochschule für Gestaltung in Düsseldorf


Seit 1982 arbeitet Günter May als freiberuflicher Illustrator in Düsseldorf und zeichnete zahlreiche Anzeigenentwürfe für VW, Volvo, Ford, Peugeot, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota, Rover und andere.
1985 erhielt er beim Plakatwettbewerb 100 Jahre Automobil eine Ehrenurkunde.
Seit einem Auftrag für Havana Club ist er fasziniert von der Einmaligkeit Kubas mit seinen zum täglichen Straßenbild gehörenden 50er Jahre Oldtimern.

 Günter May was born in 1953 in Schüller/Eifel (around 100 km south of cologne).

From 1970 to 1974 training as typesetter.

From 1974 to 1976 he attended the "Fachoberschule" of artdesign.

From 1976 to 1981 he studied at the University for Applied Sciences of Düsseldorf at the department of artdesign.

Since 1982 Günter May has been working as free lance illustrator in Düsseldorf.

He worked on advertising for Volkswagen, Volvo, Ford, Peugeot, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota, Rover etc. Since he had worked from Havana Club, he is fascinated by Cubas unique way of life, in which oldtimers from the 50īs are part of the day to day street life.

His works were purchased by the German Bundestag, the German Post , the Ministry of Agriculture of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Museum of Art the city of Düsseldorf, the Ministry of Culture and Education of Rhineland-Palatinate, among others.
